Monitoring networks and properties in areas with 200,000 properties in AMP 7
Requirements
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Lot 4 of the AMP 7 leakage framework covers its challenging DMAs with long term, difficult to manage problems. The aim is to reduce leakage by 7 ML/d by repairing customer side and network leaks and reassigning night use. The programme scope includes 200,000 properties, with loggers deployed to 100,000 properties.
DCWW requires a steady throughput of jobs and points of interest for follow-up from Invenio, to ensure a consistent improvement to the leakage target
For each property visited, DCWW requires reliably recorded, traceable information about each asset visited (fitting type, pipe material, chamber cleanliness, chamber location, meter reading).
The final outputs after analysis are jobs for leaking and high usage properties for further investigation.
Solution
A field team of 9 in Wales implements a rolling programme of areas to produce a steady flow of deliverables, hit monthly targets, and deliver the project over the full AMP.
Field work includes
- Network sounding
- Capturing property, stop tap, chamber and pipe information and photographs with ODK forms
- Cleaning out blocked chambers using a bespoke jetvac truck to expose the pipe for deployment
- Deploying Stop.Watch loggers to each stop tap to collect data for analysis.
- Verifying points of interest with a follow-up visit
